Dasara 2012 falls on Wednesday, October the 24th, 2012. Dasara or Dussehra or Navaratri is one of the important and most celebrated festivals of India/ Bharat/ Hindusthan. Navratri or nine-nights are celebrated in style with passion and devotion. Dasara celebrations reach the peak on the 10th day Vijayadashami.
On this particular day, the Durga Maa or Kanaka Durga or Raja Rajeshwari is offered nine types of Naivedyam or Prasadam early in the morning during the Durga Puja. In the evening, people will offer prayers at the JAMMI(Telugu) or Banni(Kannada) or Prosopis Spicigera(English) tree.
In the evening at the Ram Laila Maidan, New delhi an effigy of the representation of evil, Raavan will be burned. It is the symbol of the victory of good over evil. The same will be held at various parts of India but the one at New Delhi has got lots of prominence.
