ABOUT DASARA :
Dasara is one of the prominent festivals of India. It is celebrated all over India in various forms with various names. DASARA, derived from the Sanskrit Dasha-hara meaning "remover of bad fate", is among the most important festivals celebrated in India. Regional spellings include Dashera, Dussera and Dussehra. The most prominent Dasara celebrations across India are Mysore Dasara, Durga Pooja Kolkata, Dasara in Andhra Pradesh,etc.
One the tenth day of the Hindu autumn lunar month of Ashwin or Ashwayuja
which generally falls in the second half of September or first half of
October or the day after the new moon which falls in the Bhadrapada, to
the Dasami is celebrated as DASARA. The first nine days are celebrated
as Navaraatras, Navratri or Maha Navratri (nine nights) and culminates on the tenth day as Dasara.
DUSSEHRA 2012 :
This year the 2012, the Dasara falls on Wednesday, October the 24th, 2012. It is a National Holiday and there will be celebrations at Ram Leela Maidan , New Delhi.
